The Lyonia Environmental Center’s Discovery Room is home to the LEC’s Animal Ambassadors. These cherished animals are educational ambassadors and allow visitors to get up close in personal in a way they wouldn’t be able to otherwise. They are frequent guests on our social media pages and our very popular with our followers!

Each year, the Lyonia Environmental Center hosts the Reptile Read-Along event where kids get to spend some quality time reading to the LEC’s very attentive animal ambassadors.

In 2024, the Friends of Lyonia was sad to announce that one of the LEC’s most beloved ambassadors – SoCal, the California Kingsnake – passed away. SoCal brought a lot of joy to LEC staff and visitors alike.
